While John Steinbeck highlights the plight of migrant farm families in The Grapes of Wrath, in reality, less than half (43%) of the migrants during the Great Depression were farmers. Most migrants came from east of the Dust Bowl and did not work on farms. But that just isn’t as heart-wrenching?
