What Is Old Is New Again

• The ancient Romans knew how to make glass mirrors, but the technology was lost until the 1300s, in Venice, when it was reinvented.
• The technology to make aqueducts was also lost — during the Roman Empire!
• “Damascus” steel, famous for it’s use in swords, was lost when key deposits ran out in India which had unique impurities. The secret was figured out in the late 1990s and blades are being commercially made with it again.
• Heron Alexandrinus (10-70 AD) made what is arguably the first steam turbine, which was obviously lost or forgotten until reinvented in modern times
