Facts about Nicholas Copernicus he was born in 1473 in Poland he went to Italy at 18, to go to the University of Bologna and prepare to enter the Church. There, one of his jobs was helping a professor study the stars back in Poland working as a cleric, his room was in one of the towers of the city wall, giving him the perfect place to study the sky in 1514, he gave friends a hand-written book proposing that the sun, not the earth, was the center of the universe on his deathbed at age 70, he published his famous work De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium (“On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Spheres”)
