Anonymous asked: is there a point to being snarky to someone because their english is bad? this person was not being rude and did nothing to merit your vitriolic response. maybe english is not their first language, maybe they're actively working to educate themselves in history and english is just not their strong suit. command of english =/= intelligence. plus, your expertise is supposed to be history, not english grammar. have a seat.

The mistakes were not one that someone for whom English is a second language would make. In such cases, grammar issues, such as conjugation or plurals, are the most common. If someone is being ignorant, or trying to be “cool,” I’m going to consider them intellectually deficient or lazy. End of story.

P.S. I notice that you capitalized nothing in this question. I give you points for trying to be kindhearted, but mirroring their mistakes is not the way to go.
