This is the Shenandoah, the pride of the Navy’s experimental air corps. Two years after her debut, she was going on a public relations flight to the midwest, and was taken down by foul weather over Ohio on September 2, 1925. Unsurprisingly, zepplins did not become a regular part of the Navy.
